I Heart NY

I cannot wait till September is finally here. It is one of my favorite months; school starts, fall begins and the humidity of Washington, D.C. finally goes away. This September, I have my first conference to go to in NYC at the Jacob Javits Center courtesy of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and I am beside myself with excitement! I cannot wait to be in the company of such great, like-minded people and to listen to the keynote speaker Deepak Chopra, and to see Joshua Rosenthal (the founder of IIN) speak in person. I only wish I could take the trip up to NYC as a weekend getaway by myself but it is way out of my budget, so instead of roaming the city and taking in the energy of Manhattan, I will be driving up with my husband and kids and staying with my in-laws for the weekend. Which is equally great since the kids will be very well looked after, but I will be going into NY feeling the sense of urgency to get back home to my kids once the conference is over. Anyhow, beggars can't be choosers and I am lucky to have a free place to stay!

So September is going to be a very New York heavy. I will be spending a week there from the Friday before Labor Day and then coming back for my conference the weekend of 17/18. I cannot wait! I also cannot wait for September 14th - the day my daughter goes back to school! It has been a long, long summer and we are both burnt out from 'trying' to have summer fun. Bring on the school year, please.

Hiatus

I have been tremendously busy with life and so Food, Body & Soul took a backseat for a while. But it has been on my mind while I prioritized other things in life. I have so many things to share but they seem to exist in my brain in some form of code - I know I have things to write, yet I just cannot articulate them. I hope in the coming months I am able to open up the channels to allow the words to flow. To help me along, I am participating in the Chopra Center 21 day Meditation Challenge which, so far, has allowed me moments of space and kept me calm and rejuvinated and gives me a small break from the daily grind. Meditation has definitely taken a back seat for many, many months in my world and if it weren't for my amazing community at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition who share the same passion and zest for good health in body, mind and spirit, I wouldn't be doing any meditation now. So, thank you IIN, for again, taking me on a good path!
